Visit a Hematologist for Testing and Treatment

To speak with a hematologist, call our office and schedule an appointment. We specialize in the study of the blood and blood-related diseases. Patients visit our office for treatment, a diagnosis and sometimes for help preventing blood-related diseases. Our services are comprehensive. If you have any concerns about these diseases with blood, call and schedule an appointment.

We can test for blood disorder or disease

Very often, patients first visit our office because there is a possibility that they may have a blood disease or disorder, but their general physician is unsure or is seeking confirmation from our experts. We can complete the necessary test to determine if a condition does exist so that a treatment plan can be quickly developed if one does. Some of the common things a hematologist tests for are:

  • Anemia
  • Lymphoma
  • Leukemia
  • Hemophilia

We also test for, and treat, conditions related to lymphatic organs, irregularities in the blood count, platelet irregularities, and bone marrow. We also address issues with the spleen, thymus, lymph nodes, and lymphoid tissue.

Common Conditions

Two of the more common conditions we treat our lymphoma and leukemia.

Lymphoma

One reason patients often visit us to speak with a hematologist is that they have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Lymphoma is the cancer of the lymphatic system. If someone has enlarged cancer filled lymph nodes there is typically going to be some sort of visible swelling. However, it is possible to have lymphoma without realizing it because the symptoms are less than obvious.

Visiting our office allows for a test to be conducted to determine if this is an issue. For example, it is possible to have cancer of the bone marrow which is a condition that would not visibly be seen. Some symptoms to watch out for our extreme fatigue and weight loss along with swelling of the lymph nodes.

Leukemia

They also treat patients who have been diagnosed with leukemia. Leukemia is a cancer of blood-forming tissues. Leukemia makes it difficult or impossible for the body to fight infection. Thus, it is common for people to first realize they have this condition because they are constantly getting sick. Patients may also suffer from extreme fatigue and may bruise or bleed more easily than normal.

Working as a Team

Visiting a hematologist is wise for anyone suffering from a blood-related disorder or disease. However, a hematologist will not be the only health professional involved in the treatment plan. Very often, a surgeon, oncologist and primary care physician will also participate in creating an overall treatment plan. Working as a team can increase the likelihood of a patient reaching a full recovery and doing so in the shortest possible time frame.

Schedule an appointment

When diagnosed with a blood disease or disorder, it is critical to speak with the hematologist as quickly as possible. This way, we can help to create a treatment plan to help their immediate quality-of-life their ability from the disease.

If you have been diagnosed we invite you to call and schedule an appointment.
